Atlantic City prévu le 24 avril 2023 (2 CD ; Zip City ZC2CD130)
Qu'on se le dise Zip City est de retour après les très bons (et pas chers) Under Pressure, 50th Birthday Broadcast et The White Room  .
| Citation: | The tour began on 7 October '03 at the Forum Copenhagen, and continued through Europe, North America, and Asia, and included a return to New Zealand and Australia for the first time since 1987. At over 110 shows, the tour was the longest of Bowie's career. A heart attack in late June 2004 forced the cancellation of some dates near the end of the tour. A month or so before Bowie's health problems began, he was performing in North America, and on 29th & 30th May '04, he played two nights at Atlantic City's Borgata Event Center, part of the enormous Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa complex situated on the city's impressive Casino Boardwalk. The first of the two shows at Borgata's, on 29th May, was recorded for live FM Radio Broadcast, and remains a cherished gig from this period for many Bowie fans. Previously unreleased this superb concert is now available in its entirety on this new 2CD set.

Live & Sessions 1970 prévu le 26 mai 2023 (1 CD ; Expensive Woodland Recordings WL011CD)
Le filon semble bien juteux car ce nouveau label se lance désormais dans le CD mais au lieu de faire les choses proprement avec une version CD de leur premier vinyle, voici qu'ils nous sortent une nouvelle compilation des sessions BBC plutôt risquée (et sans intérêt) après la sortie du coffret The Width Of A Circle puisqu'elle semble reprendre (partiellement) le Andy Ferris Show du 25 mars 1970 et le Sunday Show du 5 février 1970. A ces deux shows s'ajoute un Space Oddity pour lequel il faudra avoir de bonnes oreilles pour déterminer d'où provient cette version. Si ce nouveau label n'était pas trop pourri, je parierais sur la version des Ivor Novello Awards du 10 mai 1970, ce qui serait un bon point.

| Citation: | David Bowie, dont le film "Moonage Daydream" gagne actuellement en popularité. Une personne qui a traversé de nombreux changements au cours de sa longue carrière, mais c'était aussi la même chose à la fin des années 80. Bowie, qui était devenu une pop star après le grand succès de "Let's Dance" (1983), a formé Tin Machine en 1988 pour s'échapper de là. À peu près à la même époque, alors que les droits sur les oeuvres passées revenaient en main, il a commencé à rééditer les oeuvres passées. Parmi eux se trouvait le coffret "Sound + Vision" (1989) rempli de morceaux rares. Ce CD contient la source sonore du "Sound + Vision Tour" organisé en 1990 sous ce titre. Bowie déclare qu'il scellera le répertoire passé avec cette tournée mondiale, qui s'est déroulée pour un total de 108 représentations, avec le meilleur contenu de type hit qui ne joue que des chansons à succès successives et des chansons représentatives. C'était une visite complète du passé. Ce qui est enregistré ici est le deuxième spectacle de la fin de la tournée, une performance live tenue à l'Estadio Nacional de Chile, un stade de Santiago, la capitale du Chili, le 27 septembre 1990. C'était la première tournée sud-américaine de Bowie, et c'était aussi le premier jour de l'événement organisé pendant trois jours sous le nom de "Rock in Chile" (Eric Clapton et d'autres sont apparus). Comme chansons rares, de l'album solo d'Adrian Belew "Young Lions" (1990), qui a joué de la guitare lors de cette tournée, la version Bowie de "Pretty Pink Rose" fournie par Bowie, et le Velvet Underground's You can listen to the cover of "White Lumière, chaleur blanche". Je suis également heureux que toutes les chansons jouées ce jour-là soient enregistrées.

Sigma Sound Sessions prévu le 11 août 2023 en France (1 CD ; Sonic Boom SON 0389) => disponible dès juillet au Royaume-Uni
Attention voici la meilleure annonce de l'année voire même de la décennie avec la sortie des fameuses Sigma Sessions. C'est le label Sonic Boom qui est à l'origine de ce coup d'éclat, label de qualité trop rare qui avait déjà produit Back In Anger en 2016 et Area 2 Festival en 2020. Il faut signaler que la setlist est différente des excellents bootlegs sortis l'an dernier qui avaient déjà fait beaucoup parler d'eux ("The Gouster" et "Shilling The Rubes" pour les vinyles ; "Sigma Sound Sessions" et "Once We Were Lovers" pour les CD). Espérons que ce CD arrivera à être distribué

Biographie de l'artiste
From its beginning, Sigma Sound was strongly associated with Philadelphia soul and, in the 1970s, the sound of Gamble and Huff's Philadelphia International Records (its driving rhythm a precursor to disco music), as well as the classic, sophisticated productions of Thom Bell. Both featured large productions with strings and horns creating what became known as the "Philadelphia Sound". David Bowie booked two weeks at Sigma, commencing the 8 August 1974. He was accompanied by Mike Garson and David Sanborn from his touring band; new guitarist Carlos Alomar; Willie Weeks on bass (to replace Herbie Flowers who had returned home); and Andy Newmark on drums to replace Tony Newman. In addition, Ava Cherry, Robin Clark (Alomar's wife) and their friend Luther Vandross provided backing vocals. The band rehearsed for three days, after which Bowie decided he wasn't happy with the sound they were getting and so he flew Tony Visconti over, who immediately took charge and produced the sound Bowie was looking for. Recording took place towards the end of the booking, and a total of 10 tracks were completed during these sessions - John, I'm Only Dancing (Again); Somebody Up There Likes Me; It's Gonna Be Me; Who Can I Be Now? Can You Hear Me; Young Americans; Right; Shilling The Rubes; I'm A Laser; and After Today. The first 7 of these were selected for inclusion on the new album tentatively titled 'One Damn Song.' |
